Blackberry Playbook Specifications, Descriptions and Review of RIM’s Tablet: Rim has now revealed the tablet from its abode, the Blackberry Playbook. This tablet was previously termed as the BlackPad, according to the rumors. This is the first tablet device to be announced with a dual-core CPU (1 GHz ARM Cortex A9). The tablet has got everyone speaking about it. The proper and attractive blend of features, technology and looks clearly define a nice standard for the device.
The specifications of the Blackberry Playbook Tablet are quite amazing to look at. This Blackberry tablet is being accompanied by a 1 GHz Dual Core Processor along with the combination of a 1 GB RAM.
Accompanied by an appealing 7 inch LCD display with 1024 x 600 screen resolution, the device even enables Multi-touch capacitive display and has got the dimensions of 130mm x 194mm x 10mm. the Blackberry Playbook is having a weight of 400 gm. and shall enable micro USB , micro HDMI and DLNA connectivity.

The Blackberry Playbook shall provide for connectivity through Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and features Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. The device is powered by QNX platform with multitasking capabilities. Providing full Adobe Flash 10.1 support, the Blackberry Playbook has even got a built-in support for HTML 5. The device shall also enable Video Conferencing with HD Quality and Stereo sound, and is accompanied by a 5 MP Rear Camera along with a 3 MP Front Camera.
Allowing for a Video playback at 1080p HD video, the device shall support the H.264, MPEG4, WMV, DivX formats. The tablet shall even support Audio Playback allowing for the MP3, AAC and WMA formats. The Blackberry Playbook shall even allow it to be paired with any Blackberry Device (min OS 5.0 device) via Bluetooth for Push Email, Calendar, Docs and BBM.

The current model of the Blackberry Playbook supports Wi-Fi, but models supporting 3G and 4G are also coming soon according to the company. The Blackberry Playbook has been scheduled for release in USA in early 2011 or Quarter 1, while the global release of the device shall take place in the second quarter of 2011. The pricing details of the tablet have not yet been revealed by the company, but it is being expected that the tablet will be kept in the cheap range or the lower end of the tablet market.

According to zdnet.com, the main competitors of the Blackberry Playbook include:
- Avaya’s Flare enterprise tablet is expected to have a list price of $2,000. It will have a huge11.6-inch HD screen and camera, but dual-core hasn’t been confirmed by the company.
- Cisco’s 7-inch Cius is an Android enterprise tablet that handily beats the PlayBook on connectivity (Wi-Fi and 3G and 4G) but will ‘only’ have 720p HD video. Cisco hasn’t given out other detailed specs. The Cius is expected to list for less than $1,000.
- Blackberry Playbook vs iPad : Apple’s iPad lists for between $499 and $829.
